Two Achille High School students injured in an automobile accident are in stable condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

Christen E. Regan, 18, Hendrix, and Lacey J. Gibby, 17, Colbert, were flown to Parkland by helicopter following a crash at 12:07 a.m. Sunday on Highway 69/75 south of the Highway 70 overpass in Durant.

According to a report by Durant Police Patrolman Jason Colvard, the victims were passengers in a GMC Yukon driven by Katelynn Marie Ervin, 17, Hendrix.

Ervin was treated at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, and is recuperating at home.

The report stated that Ervin was entering Highway 69/75 and attempted to move into the right lane. She told police that her passengers screamed and she noticed another vehicle in the right lane.

Ervin tried to move back into the left lane but overcorrected, slid in the median and rolled the vehicle approximately three times. Gibby was ejected from the vehicle, according to the report, and suffered trunk and arm injuries.

She was not wearing a seat belt, according to police.

Regan sustained head, trunk and arm injuries. She was wearing a seat belt and was extricated from the vehicle by Durant firefighters.

The driver of the other vehicle, Jeremiah Thomas McCain, 18, Achille, was not injured. He told police that the Yukon cut in front of him.

An unsafe lane change by Ervin was cited in the report as the cause of the crash. McCain was arrested by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for suspicion of DUI.

An Achille Schools counselor said this morning that the two teens who are hospitalized are doing well but are expected to remain in the hospital for a while.
