CADDO – The Caddo Bruins are still searching for their first district win after a 27-19 loss to the visiting Wewoka Tigers on Friday night. The Bruins played a solid all-around game and kept it close until the final minutes of the contest.

The Bruins tied the game 19-19 late in the fourth quarter on a touchdown run by Corey Savoy. The Bruins had a chance to take the lead on the extra point, but a low snap botched the attempt.

With 1:39 left in the game, the Tigers set up shop on their own 27-yard line. On third down, Wewoka quarterback Bryton Washington broke free for a 70-yard touchdown run. The Tigers completed the two-point conversion to make it 27-19.

The Bruins had one more chance to tie it up with 46 seconds left on the clock. Trae Johnson intercepted a second down pass from Caddo quarterback Triston Paris to finish things up.

Despite the loss, Caddo head coach Jeremy Proctor was still pleased with his team. “I thought our overall effort was great tonight,” said Proctor. “Our defense held them and stepped up with some key turnovers.”

The Bruins jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter. The Bruins defense had the Tigers penned deep in their own territory after a solid punt from Savoy. A high snap made it past Washington and the Bruins recovered the ball in the end zone to make it 6-0.

The Tigers tied the game on their next possession with a 48-yard touchdown run by Washington.

The Tigers took their first lead of the game in the second quarter. Washington completed a touchdown pass to Traveion Shepherd and the Tigers got the extra point to make it 13-6 at the half.

The Bruins scored on their first possession out of the locker room on an 11-yard touchdown run by Tanner Grace. The Tigers had trouble hanging on to the ball in the second half and fumbled twice in the third quarter.

Washington scored again for the Tigers in the fourth quarter but they missed the extra point to make it 19-13. The Bruins were able to tie the game after Josh Young recovered the fourth Wewoka fumble of the second half.

The Bruins now have a 2-4 regular season record and are 0-3 in district play. Next up on the schedule for Caddo will be a trip to Wynnewood next Friday.
