A traffic stop led by Calera Police led to the seizure of heroin and marijuana.
Assistant Police Chief T.J. White and his partner Patrolman Scott Bryant pulled over a vehicle for speeding Friday afternoon and all of the occupants appeared very nervous, the report stated.
White asked Durant K-9 Officer Jesse Petty for assistance and Petty’s dog indicated the presence of drugs inside the vehicle, according to the report.
Inside a backpack, White found a small, glass vial that contained a black substance, suspected of being “black tar” heroine, according to the report.
Officers also found marijuana, the report stated. The driver later told White that they were on their way to see an Allman Brothers concert.
Police said the black substance tested positive for heroin. Matthew Thomas Mehlhorn, 34, Springfield, Mo., was charged with felony possession of heroin. The other occupants were charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.
