Services for Carl Clifton Current Sr. of Durant, Oklahoma, who passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 79 years, 4 months, 19 days will be Saturday September 25, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Chapel. Internment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Current, Rick Current Claude Kinser, Bill Graham, Ricky Wilhelm and Andy Reneau. Carl was born on Saturday, May 3, 1931, in White Oaks, New Mexico to Jerry George and Fannie Funder (Burk) Current. Carl married Evelyn Holland on February 1954, in Graham, Texas she passed away September 23, 1999. Carl was a Member of the Knights of Pythias, played any Stringed instrument , but loved the mandolin. In his younger days he loved riding and breaking horses.

He is survived by his sons Franklin Byrd of St Louis, Missiouri, Allen Byrd of Ft. Worth, Texas, Cliff Current of Abilene, Texas, Tom Current and wife Ronnie of Amarillo, Texas, Tim Current and wife Martha of Kingston, Oklahoma, daughters Shirley Reneau and husband Andy of Hutto, Texas, Robin Current of Durant, Oklahoma, Tabitha Smith and husband Mark of Tampa, Florida, brother Wayne Current of Mexia, Texas, sisters Clara Graham of Paris, Texas, Esther Hoffman of New Castle, Texas, Great Grandchildren Jeremiah Current of Durant, Oklahoma, Joshua Current of Durant, Oklahoma, Kaydee Current of Durant, Oklahoma. Thirty-three grandchildren and thrity-three great grandchildren. Mr Current was preceded in death by his wife: Evelyn Current; parents: Jerry and Fannie Current; brother: Bobbie Current; Sister: Cleo Riley, Opal Poland, and Peggy Thompson, Grandchildren: Sharon Current, Jennifer Current, Thomas Current, Jeremy Byrd, Darla Byrd, April Dawn Current and a Great Grandchild: Dizzy Current.

This was my Dad as well as my best friend. Strong willed, a kind heart and a gentle soul. I miss him deeply.
