A Cartwright man is facing multiple charges after a deputy detained him for outstanding local warrants.

Reserve Deputy Billy Sprouse went to 479 Oak Hills in Cartwright at approximately 9:45 p.m. Monday to serve an arrest warrant to Jason Lee Jackson, 26.

According to a Bryan County Sheriff’s Office report, Sprouse found Jackson in a back bedroom of the residence under some clothes on a bed. Sprouse then ordered him to show his hands. After Jackson complied, he was arrested for outstanding warrants. It is unknown if Sprouse was a resident of the property.

Sprouse then searched Jackson for weapons and, instead, found a pipe with residue in it in his left front pant’s pocket. He also found a small Ziploc baggie in the left front pocket of Jackson’s coveralls. When asked about the contents, Jackson said “reefer” was inside the baggie, according to the report.

Jackson was transported and booked into the Bryan County jail for outstanding warrants and possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. According to the report, both charges are second and subsequent offenses.

Sprouse turned the pipe and baggie over to Detective John Bates for testing.

In other reports, Deputy Gary Cook responded to a burglary report at 1329 Magnolia Ln. in Bennington Sunday at approximately 5:30 p.m.

According to the report, Cody Allen Sullivan, 24, reported that an air rifle, digital camera and .44 Magnum revolver were stolen from his residence Christmas Day between 9 and 10:30 p.m.

Sullivan said he invited a female friend to his residence. Her father Shane Hickman, 40, and his girlfriend Sandra Kines, 40, both of Stratford, brought her over to his house. After Hickman and Kines left, he discovered that the weapons and camera were missing from a bedroom. Upon leaving his house, the couple were heading to a residence in Bokchito.

According to the report, Sullivan called the Bokchito Police Department and explained the situation to Officer Cody Lake. Sullivan then left his house and drove to the Bokchito residence. Meanwhile, Lake spotted the suspects’ car driving in town and he made a traffic stop. Upon receiving permission to search the vehicle, he recovered the air rifle, which he later returned to Sullivan.

According to the report, Sullivan’s female friend later saw the stolen camera at the Stratford residence; she took the camera and said she would mail it back to Sullivan.

In other reports, Cook responded to a burglary in progress Tuesday between 5:20 and 5:36 p.m. at 74 Indian Rd., Durant.

According to a report, Sandra Bishop, 56, was returning home from work and found that her backdoor was broken and open. Fearing burglars might be inside the residence, she called 911 and was advised to exit the house and wait in her vehicle until a deputy arrived.

Cook arrived at the house and searched the residence. After nobody was found inside the residence, Cook took an initial report and had Bishop enter and assess if anything had been stolen. She reported that a laptop, valued at $500, approximately 100 DVDs, valued at $1,000, jewelry, valued at $1,700, and a deer-type spotlight and charger, valued at $80, were missing. However, firearms in a bedroom were not disturbed.

According to the report, Cook did not find any tool marks on the the backdoor. Bishop said her door was locked when she left for work; while she was waiting for the deputy, she heard what sounded like a car engine starting up and driving off. She suspected that the culprits drove off in a four-wheeler because no roads are behind her residence.

Cook and two other deputies searched the area but found no vehicles or vehicle tracks, according to the report. Bishop was unable to give a service or model number for the laptop.

The suspects are currently unknown at this time.

In other crimes, Deputy Anthony Scavo reported Tuesday to a theft from a motor vehicle on 5754 Smiser Rd., Calera.

Kristopher Lynn Roberts, 28, said two 16-inch aluminum rims, valued at $2,000, and a Pioneer CD player, valued at $600, were stolen from his 1997 black Chevy pickup. The driver’s side handles of the vehicle were broken.

According to a report, the crime happened some time between 12 a.m. Oct. 1 and 12 a.m. Dec. 29. The investigation is currently pending. No suspects have been named at this time.
