Dumpsters will be located throughout Bryan County for citizens who want to clean up in their area. These rolloffs will be placed in Silo, Platter, Cartwright, Achille, Colbert, Bokchito and Caddo.

Gloves, bags and volunteer enlistment forms will be available for citizens to pick up at county barns.

Volunteer enlistment forms can also be printed from the Durant Chamber of Commerce Web site. These forms allow the county to correctly report the number of volunteers and bags of trash of picked up during the trash off.

Volunteers that are participating outside of Durant can mail their forms in to: Donna Tyler P.O. Box 441, Durant, OK 74702.

Durant participants are to meet at the Market Square at 8:45 a.m. to sign in and pick up gloves and trash bags that are provided by the state.

Citizens can participate as individuals or groups and can choose a location to clean up or ask for a designated location. Prizes will be given out for the most unique item found and for the biggest group.

Local organizations are encouraged to participate as groups and everyone is welcome. Groups with children can be placed in areas with little traffic.

Trash that is gathered in Durant by volunteers can be brought back or left in the bags at the locations for the city trucks to pick up. The city will have workers picking up bags of trash beside the road and handing out more bags.

Recyclable items can also be dropped off at the Market Square during the event. These items include, cardboard, newspapers, magazines, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, medication bottles and cell phones.

Citizens can also sign up to adopt a city street to keep clean at the trash off event.

Volunteers are asked to meet back at the Market Square at 11:30 a.m. to draw for prizes and enjoy free hot dogs, drinks and more. First Texoma National Bank is providing the grill and the hotdogs.

Walmart has donated a charcoal grill and grill utensil set to be given away through a drawing. The Choctaw Casino has donated gas cards and game play coupon cards. Taco Casa has donated free food coupons, Salita’s has donated a free meal, the Durant Bowling Center and Twin Cinemas have donated free passes and the city of Durant has donated pool passes, tote bags and bird feeders.

If the event is rained out, the trash off will be rescheduled for April 24.
