COLBERT - The Lady Leopards sent a statement to the crowded field of high-caliber 2A playoff basketball teams with a 56-14 win over Haworth on Saturday.
Colbert captured another district championship in the process, holding the Lady Lions to single-digit scoring in each quarter.
Taylor Lyons dominated the game with 16 points and a strong showing in the paint and on the boards. She even showed her stroke on a 10-foot putback jumper in the second quarter, helping the Lady Leopards to a 32-6 halftime lead.
Bailee Weger and Katherine Hair contrinuted eight points each, and each had a pair of three-pointers. Haylie McGowan came off the bench for five first-half points to round out the top scorers.
Colbert will host the regional semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in an all-Bryan County grudge match between the Lady Leopards and rival Silo Lady Rebels.
