During the monthly meeting of the Bryan County Commissioners, the commissioners voted to accept Avalanche Drive and all roads in Parklake Subdivision as county roads.

The commissioners also voted to appoint Barbara Wood to a five-year board member position for the West Bryan County Fire Rescue Department. The commissioners discussed Resolution 2011-12/059, which dealt with federal funding given to Indian tribes.

District 1 Commissioner Monty Montgomery said part of the funding received by the tribes goes toward helping counties maintain roads, but that rules were trying to be changed that limited the funds to reparation of roads only on Native American reservations.

The resolution opposed the changing of the rules and the commissioners voted to approve the resolution.

In other news, the commissioners approved contracts with Canadian County Juvenile, Texas County Juvenile and Craig County Juvenile. Sheriff Bill Sturch was present to discuss the travel and compensation of deputies. The commissioners also approved a funding agreement with Chickasaw Nation on Silo Road.
