DURANT- A tax approved by voters more than three years ago is not being distributed as approved by voters because county commissioners want to pay off the bonds used to finance renovation of the Bryan County Jail.
During a Monday meeting of the commissioners, local motel owner Charles Calhoun, who is opposed to a ballot for motel tax, asked why the funds from a quarter-cent sales tax are not being distributed.
