David Cain Barker passed away in O’Fallon, Illinois, of natural causes on December 23, 2012, at the age of 58.
David was born on January 10, 1954, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Dr. and Mrs. Lewis L. Barker.
He was a graduate of Durant High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. In his younger days David was an outdoorsman who especially enjoyed golf and hunting.
He was an all-state trombonist and member of the Durant High School lab band. He was a boy scout enthusiast earning Eagle, Order of the Arrow, and two Eagle Palms. Most of his career was spent in computer science, but for a short time he was a local high school teacher and businessman.
David was an ordained deacon of the First Baptist Church of Durant. He and his family were very active in the Baptist church in the towns where they lived. He is remembered as a devoted father who especially enjoyed travel to Europe with Diane, many cross country trips when the children were little, and later, trips to watch the children perform
in concerts and parades.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Lewis Barker. He is survived by his mother Laura Barker of Durant, and his wife Diane Barker of O’Fallon, Illinois and their children Timothy David, Emily RoseBeth, Natalee JoLyn, and Aubrey LeeAnn Pieper and husband Benjamin and their children Daisy AnnaLee and Donald Lindell. He is also survived by his brother Dr. John Barker and wife Dr. Becky Barker of Norman and their children Reed and Riley.

Services and burial will be held in O’Fallon, Illinois on December 31, under the direction of Wolfersberger Funeral Home.
