At Durant

The Lady Lions salvaged a win with a 13-1 run-rule over Tulsa Washington in the Shawnee Tournament Saturday, but couldn’t sustain that momentum over the weekend. The Lady Lions fell to 7-4 on the season after losing 5-1 to Coalgate Monday.

Durant opened scoring in the second inning before giving up the five unanswered. Nicole Owens led off with an infield single before being replaced on the base paths by Hailey McKinney. McKinney swiped second to move into scoring position before a two-out, RBI-single by Ashlyn Davenport. The single, which chopped up the middle, was the only hit the Lady Lions managed to get out of the infield through the first four.

Coalgate’s Miranda Hix recorded the win. She struck out four, with two walks and six hits allowed. Shaina Crites took the loss for Durant. She allowed just one earned run, scattering seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Coalgate’s answer came in the fifth after a lead-off single by Cherokee Aker. A pair of errors led to the first run, and Kaci Trentham added an RBI-single. The Lady Wildcats added insurance, with three more in the seventh. A pair of errors put the first two runners aboard before a two-run double by Laramie Beal. Krysten Glaseo added an RBI-single.

Destiny Renegar, Crystal Guilbeau and Randi Eggenberg added singles for the Lady Lions. Durant travels to Antlers today, and will not return home until Monday to host Rattan.

Other local scores: Colbert 6, Tishomingo 0.

Wes Shumake led the offense with three hits. Blake Allen had the only other multiple-hit game with a pair of singles. Goolsby’s double was the only extra-base hit of the contest.

Cross took the loss for Calera, and also had a complete-game effort. Dudley, Phillips and Eidson recorded hits for the Bulldogs.

Rock Creek will play in the Latta Tournament Thursday
