At Colbert

The Colbert Lady Leopards beat the Caddo Lady Bruins 4-0 Tuesday, led by Jacee Bennett’s 10 strikeout performance.

It was a defensive battle until the bottom of the fourth inning when, Colbert finally got on the scoreboard.

Facing two outs in the fourth inning, Kaitlyn Krob walked into the batter’s box and belted a home run over the left field wall to begin the scoring for Colbert.

The Colbert offense went three-up, three-down in the fifth inning, but the Lady Leopards continued to put the game away, scoring three more.

Ashley Gray hit a hard sharp grounder past the center fielder to the wall, Gray then flew around the bases for a inside-the-park home run. Then, with a runner at second base, Savannah Harmon hit an RBI single past the diving short stop to give the Lady Leopards a 4-0 lead and the win.

At Antlers

The Lady Lions improved to 8-4 on the season with a 10-4 win over Antlers Tuesday.

“We had the opportunity to score quite a bit more, but had some base running mistakes, and their defense made a few plays,” said Durant coach Perry Turnbow.

Crites recorded the win, allowing just one earned run with 10 strikeouts and one walk.

“Crites threw a really good game,” said Turnbow. “Only one earned run, but we didn’t have quite the errors we have had. Destiny Renegar, Katheryn Prentice and Lauren Hayes played some great defense.”

Hayes, Renegar, Kasi Phillips, Nicole Owens and Randi Eggenberg all had multiple hits for the Lady Lions.

Turnbow was also impressed with some of the play by the underclassmen in an 8-2 junior varsity win.

“Kalyn Ward had a complete game in the J.V. for a nice victory. She threw well and had some hits,” said Turnbow. “Lauren Vela, Prentice, Morgan Steve and Kristen Hobbs all hit. The J.V. played as well as I’ve seen them play this year.”

Durant travels to Dickson Thursday and will play a 3-way with Byng and Shawnee at Byng Saturday. The Lady Lions return home to host Rattan Monday.
