Durant City Council meets at 4 p.m. Tuesday at city hall for its regular monthly meeting.
The council will tackle the following agenda items:
- Update local park sign to “Remington Hills Park, Jacob’s Playground”
- Grants from Oklahoma Emergency Management to send three students to attend Northeastern State University Certified Emergency Manager Program
- Grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries to pay for cost of overdrive E-book collection for 2012-13
- Temporary street closing for the Durant High School Homecoming Parade on Sept. 6, street carnival on Market Square Sept. 29, Colton’s Run on Market Square Oct. 20, Downtown Trick-or-Treat Oct. 31, Downtown Holiday Dec. 1 and shopping spree giveaway Dec. 18
- Routes and street closings for the MCSO 5K run and 1-mile walk Nov. 3
- Street closings for Durant Elks Lodge Carnival Oct. 17-20
- Acceptance of property gift by Allen and Betty Wheeler
- Road closure on Brookside Drive Sept. 22 for Cub Scout event
- South Ninth Avenue widening and other roadwork by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation
- Future testamentary gifts from George Pendleton Jr. for the benefit of the Public Library for the procurement of books
- Amending ordinances providing for sever-ability and declaring an emergency
- Resolution declaring the Wheeler Federal Building to be surplus and to authorize sale
- Change in benefit plans for city manager and assistant city manager
- Resolution declaring an emergency for repairs to raw water pumps at water treatment plant
