HUGO - On Hugo's senior night, the Lady Lions squandered an 18 point lead, but managed enough willpower and determination to reclaim it, defeating the Lady Buffs 60-52. Turnovers and giving up second chance points were costly for the Lions though, as they dropped the latter of the doubleheader, 42-17.

Girls

Sierra Moore scored early to draw first blood, on her way to score Durant's first six points of the game. Kaylie Baxter showed her range early, swishing two shots from beyond the arch in the quarter. Showcasing their fast break abilities, Shaina Crites hit a tough layup to advance the score to 20-10, which would be the score to end the quarter.

More fast break points due to strong defense would continue to propel the Lady Lions, as they would run up the score to 37-19 at the halfway mark.

Hugo would make proper halftime adjustments and go on a tear in the second quarter, creating turnovers and scoring quickly on Durant's bad shooting. In the end, the Lady Buffs would outscore the Lady Lions 24-3 in the third quarter, taking a 43-40 lead.

Durant would wake up in the fourth quarter, not letting the deafening Hugo crowd dictate the game. Lyndi Barrett would hit a three early in the quarter, giving the Lady Lions the lead back at 45-43. As their shooting began to improve, as did the Lady Lions' defense, allowing them to sustain the lead and win with a fair margin, 60-52.

Sierra Moore led the charge for the Lady Lions with 17 points. Lyndi Barrett racked up 13, while Kaylie Baxter had 12. Taylor Richards accrued 10 in the win. Shaina Crites finished with four, while Savannah Riffe and Liz Watkins rounded out the scoring with two apiece.

Boys

Hugo would score the first four points in the game, before Tyler Hendley stopped the bleeding with a running jumper in the lane. Hugo would score once more to end the quarter, 6-2.

Hendley continued to put up points in the half, trimming the lead down to 10-6 after a fancy spin move on the baseline. Thanks to tough defense, Durant would go into halftime losing by a manageable margin, 11-8.

Things fell apart for the Lions, as Hugo would take advantage of turnovers and second chance points. Durant's defense and lack of scoring could not hold up either, as the Lions fell to a second half Hugo surge, 42-17.

Tyler Hendley scored 15 points for the Lions, while Andrew Ridgway scored the remaining two.
