DURANT — The Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival kicks off its 33rd season June 22-23, with the opening of its 4-in-1 show Four Guys Named Al in Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s New Theatre Building.
This quartet cabaret spotlights the outstanding local talents of Aaron Adair, Jeremy Blackwood, Corey King and Dell McLain, as they sing select songs from the Great American Songbook, such as “Fly Me to the Moon”, “Young at Heart,” “I’ll Be Seeing You” and “New York, New York.”
Written by McLain, the story follows a television studio security guard, two janitors and a junior producer who find themselves trapped during a freak Labor Day snowstorm. In order to save the Great American Labor Day Telethon, they’ll have to perform the last hour and ten minutes live on their own. McClain described it as “fast paced and funny,” saying, “It’s a great way to kick off your summer.”
“I wanted to write a show I knew my mom would love,” said McLain. “You’ll also get the chance to hear these four veteran performers singing in tight harmony on such songs as “Danny Boy” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” plus a show-stopping male version of “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. “
