Durant Main Street announced this week’s Music on Market Square will feature Grandpa’s Neighbors. The evening will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday. The public is invited to the outdoor stage at First and Evergreen in Downtown Durant to hear good music in a relaxed atmosphere.

Grandpa’s Neighbors sings in a style that is a pleasant mix of country, bluegrass and traditional gospel. They have many songs, some of which are original to the group. The group never repeats a show or service exactly because they set each line up of songs according to God’s leading for each specific audience or congregation.

The all-girl band with all girl vocals never goes to any performance without Dad or at least one of the Grandpas. They often bring special guests along with them to make the performance even more special.

The lineup for the remainder of the season has also been set. Aug. 27 will feature Larry Whaley who will return on Sept. 10. Morris McCann is proud to be back on Market Square for Sept. 3, and Mikayla Lee will perform on Sept. 17. Country Explosion will end the season on Sept. 24.

“This band is a crowd favorite, and we always look forward to hearing their wonderful sound,” said Donna Dow, Durant Main Street program manager.

For more information, contact Durant Main Street at 924-1550. The concerts are free, and attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
