The Hope Chest, a clothing ministry of Families Feeding Families, has moved to 501 NE 4th Ave.

Co-Director Ticia Burkhalter announced the move in an email, but said the Hope Chest is still getting organized and in need of operational equipment, donations and volunteers.

“This is right up the street from our kitchen” (in the George Washington School), Burkhalter said. It is in the former site of a Presbyterian church, near the Assistance Center of Bryan County.

“We are needing all sorts of donations,” she said. “We’re really low on summer clothes, from babies up to adults. We’re also setting up a section for professional and work attire, trying to serve the working and middle class.”

The Hope Chest also needs display cabinets and retail clothing racks. On the volunteer side, Burkhalter said the Hope Chest is looking for clothes sorters and people to help shop for special needs clients.

The Hope Chest is open on selected afternoons and by appointment through July, but is expected to operate from 9-5 Monday through Friday as of Aug. 1.

For information on donations of clothing, cabinets or racks, or to volunteer, call Burkhalter at (580) 230-9142.
