The Bryan County Genealogy Library & Archives located at 203 N. McKinley in Calera will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 8th starting at 4:00 P.M. All members are encouraged to attend.

Jan. 10

On Jan. 10 at 7:00 p.m., at Donald W. Reynolds Community Center & Library, Book Talk will discuss “Between Shades of Grey,” the moving story of a Lithuanian teenager arrested and sent to Siberia during World War II. Copies are available for purchase at the library.

Jan. 11

Oklahoma Retired Educators will meet at noon at Donald W. Reynolds Library in Durant. State Rep. Dustin Roberts will be speaker.

Jan. 12

Durant Roundup Club will hold its Family Fun Playday banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Bryan County Community Center. All Roundup club members are invited. It will be a potluck dinner and all families should bring a covered dish that is enough to feed the number of people in their family. Each family is also requested to bring a dessert for the fund-raising auction.

Jan. 14

Durant Roundup Club will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14. Because of cold weather, the meeting will be held at 2002 Liveoak in Durant. Members and anyone interested in joining is invited.

Mead Community Center is now serving lunch for $3 from 11:30 to 12:30 Tuesday-Thursday.

The Christian Poets Society is sponsoring a free poetry contest open to everyone. There are 50 prizes totaling $5,000, with a $1,000 grand prize for the winner. Poems of 21 lines or less on any subject and in any style will be judged by the contest director Dr. Jerome Cousins.
