Jo Ellen Ray was born Nov. 17, 1925, and passed away on Sept. 21, 2009, in Alburquerque, N.M., where she had lived for many years. Ms. Ray was an Air Force retiree, having served in the Women’s Army Corps. for eight years, in the U.S. Air Force for eight years and service in the Air Force Reserves for 22 years until her retirement in November 1985.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman Gentry and Ora Catherine Ray, four brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by one brother, Sherman Ray, Jr., Madison, Ala., and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in her hometown of Bokchito.
