She was the daughter of the late Jack and Fay Smith Trainor and was born October 14, 1946, in Denison, Texas, and attended Denison schools. She married Gene Mattingly December 3, 1982, in Durant. She had been employed with Safeway in Denison for 18 years and Alcoa in Denison for 12 years. She was a housewife and a longtime member of Kemp Baptist Church in Kemp. She enjoyed the holidays and loved to cook, loved her family and lived in the Bryan County area all her life.
She was preceded in death by stepson Bobby Mattingly.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Mattingly of the home, Calera; daughter Shannon Kiefer of Durant; stepsons Ricky Mattingly and wife Treva of Calera, and Brian Mattingly of Colbert; stepdaughter Deborah Mattingly of Dallas, Texas; sister Kathy Roach and husband James of Denison; and brother James Trainor and wife Nancy of Denison; nine grandchildren; one great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for JoAnn will be held 10 a.m. Friday in the Kemp Baptist Church in Kemp with the Reverend Roger Speers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery in Achille.
Pallbearers will be David Roach, Taylor Trainor, Travis Trainor, Ricky Hamby, Jimmy Rhoades, and Ricky Manery.
Family night will be from 7-8 this evening at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert.
