BOKCHITO – Fresh off tournament triumphs, Colbert and Rock Creek went head to head Monday with the Lady Leopards dominating the Lady Mustangs 65-36.

Despite the one-sided score, Rock Creek battled from start to finish. The highlight of the game – besides impressive long distance shooting by Colbert’s potent lineup – was the determined and physical matchup between Colbert post Taylor Lyons and Shaina Holland of the Lady Mustangs.

The girls virtually cancelled each other out in a battle of strength and skill which roused the crowd. Lyons won the battle of the boards while Holland outscored her opponent five to one.

Beyond the center matchup, the game was never close. Colbert led 19-7 after a quarter, and despite a couple of steals and a bucket by Harlie Heflin of Rock Creek, the Lady Leopards built a 42-20 lead by halftime.

A 17-3 Colbert run in the third quarter doomed Rock Creek, even as the Lady Mustangs took a 13-6 advantage in the fourth.

BOKCHITO – The Lady Mustangs rallied to defeat the Lady Tigers, handing No. 14 Fort Towson their first defeat of the season.

Fort Towson ran up a 15-7 lead after one quarter and still held a 20-13 advantage at the half. The lead was 27-19 before the Lady Mustangs put up an 11-0 fourth quarter run to capture the game and the tournament’s top honors.

Rock Creek Invitational Consolation (Saturday): Soper 39 Rock Creek JV 32 (OT)

BOKCHITO – Soper needed extra time to get past the junior varsity squad from Rock Creek, but the Lady Red Bears put up a 9-2 overtime run to take the game.
