Local FFA student to perform on national stage

INDIANAPOLIS -When more than 54,000 people converge on Indianapolis for the nation’s largest annual FFA student convention and expo, numerous activities as well as high-quality entertainment are essential to the event’s success.

Mark Spampinato of the Silo FFA Chapter has been selected as one of a small group of young people nationwide to perform during the 85th National FFA Convention & Expo Oct. 24-27, 2012. excitement and spirit to the convention and expo. The student submitted an application along with a recorded audition and was selected based on criteria evaluating quality of performance, stage presence, spirit and ability to relate to the FFA theme.

More than 50 acts from across the country were chosen to perform during convention and expo sessions, meal functions and receptions at the Indiana Convention Center, Bankers Life Fieldhouse and Lucas Oil Stadium.

The National FFA Organization is a national youth organization of 540,379 student members as part of 7,489 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

The National FFA Organization operates under a federal charter granted by the 81st United States Congress and it is an integral part of public instruction in agriculture. The U.S. Department of Education provides leadership and helps set direction for FFA as a service to state and local agricultural education programs.
