The man killed in a small explosion Thursday at a Durant factory has been identified as Sammy Clay Shults of Kenefic.

Shults, 56, was killed and another worker injured when an explosion took place at a plasma table at Roll Offs USA on US 70 west of Durant. Shults was a plasma operator at the plant for 18 years.

According to a Durant Fire Department report, an area around a plasma table exploded in the plant around 2 p.m. Thursday, but caused no fire. There was a hole in the roof above the table where the explosion took place.

Roll Offs USA produces hoist trucks, containers, compactors and roll off bins.

Funeral services for Shults have been set for Tuesday morning at Kenefic Baptist Church. The Oklahoma City native had been a resident of Kenefic for 20 years. He leaves behind a wife, five children and three grandchildren.
