DURANT — The trial for a pipeline worker accused of stomping his friend to death at a Colbert campground has been postponed.

Don Mancil, 44, Pitkin, La., was set for trial this morning on a second-degree murder charges. Court officials met this morning to delay the trial due to problems serving subpoenas to out-of-state witnesses.

Mancil was arrested in October 2008 after authorities investigated the beating death of Charles Randal Johnson at the KOA Campground in Colbert.

Colbert Police said that Mancil and Johnson were staying at the campground because they were pipeline workers.

Authorities were dispatched to the campground about a fight and when they arrived, they found Johnson on the ground. He was taken to Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas, where he died, according to police.

Mancil was arrested after being questioned by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Agent Reanae Childers.

According to an affidavit, Mancil said he got into a fight with Johnson because he believed he was having an affair with his wife.

He said they got into a fist fight after Johnson punched him, the affidavit states, and he admitted to kicking him in the head several times after knocking him unconscious.

Mancil is free on bond.

Mancil, who is free on bond, has a new trial set Jan. 25.
