DURANT — Police arrested six intoxicated people this morning after responding to a fight in the parking lot of a nightclub.

Officers were dispatched at 1:49 to Cheyenne’s Club, 2501 W. Main St., about a fight in progress and one person who had a head injury.

Patrolman Brandon Carbaugh found Garrett Johnson on the ground and he had a cut to his right brow, plus scuffs on his forehead and chin. According to police, bystanders said Johnson got into an argument with a man, who pulled him out of his vehicle and hit and kicked him.

The assailant left before police arrived. While officers tried to disperse the crowd, five people were arrested for public intoxication and an additional person was arrested for actual physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated.

In other crime news, Glenn Lee Stroman, 48, New Boston, Texas, was charged Thursday with methamphetamine manufacture and possession.

Stroman was captured Wednesday following a traffic stop by Achille Assistant Police Chief Heath Oliver.

According to a probable-cause affidavit by District Attorney’s Drug Task Force Agent Chuck Carroll, Oliver stopped Stroman because he was speeding, and then discovered his license was suspended.

Stroman was arrested and during a vehicle inventory, Oliver found items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.

Authorities have investigated several burglaries and thefts during the past few days.

Durant Master Police Officer John Walker investigated a burglary Tuesday in the 2000 block of West Evergreen Street. Whitney Dirks said she returned home and discovered that a television, video game system and laptop computer were stolen. The back door had been pried open to gain entry.

Sgt. Brock Jones investigated an apartment burglary Wednesday at an apartment in the 1000 block of Parkview Drive. A neighbor told the officer that she was watching an apartment for a tenant and discovered that a television was missing. Jones observed pry marks on the door and damage to a window. The case remains under investigation.

Two firearms, a Glock .40-caliber pistol and a Sig-Sauer 9 mm pistol, were stolen from Ronnie Shoemake’s unlocked pickup on Winnett Road in the Colbert area. Shoemake told Carr on Wednesday that his truck was parked in the driveway at the time of the theft.

Carr investigated a boat theft Wednesday in the 800 block of Platter Cutoff Road. Lonnie Ward said the $7,000 1998 Pro-Sport 21-foot boat was parked near a shop building at the time of the theft.
