DURANT – The Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival kicked off last weekend with the sold out performances of their 4-in-1 cabaret, Four Guys Named Al. The festival continues with this week’s performances of Honk! and Scenes From Disney by the Teen and Children’s Theatre Workshop. Four Guys Named Al, written by McLain, featured the talents of Corey King, Aaron Adair, Jeremy Blackwood and McLain himself as the four “Als” who find themselves trapped in New York City during a freak Labor Day snowstorm. Lynette George of the Herald Democrat wrote in her review that “the four create a show you’re almost sad to see end.”

Up next, the Children’s Theatre Workshop will be performing Scenes From Disney, featuring scenes from Disney classics Toy Story, Hercules, Mary Poppins, 101 Dalmatians, and Bambi. Riley Coker, producing director of OSF and director of the children and teen shows, said although this year’s production is different than in years past, it has been “a wonderful experience.”

Also premiering this weekend is Honk!, the West End hit musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling. With musical direction from Deborah Clements, the story follows Ugly, a duckling who is rejected by everyone but his mother, a sly tomcat who wants to eat Ugly, and several other barnyard creatures.

Rehearsals for the main stage season began last week, featuring William Shakespeare’s classic play Romeo and Juliet, the interactive dinner theatre production Game Show, and the hit comedy musical Once Upon A Mattress. “It’s great to have all the cast members together on stage; we finally get to see the great characters they’ve created interacting with each other,” said Coker.

Performances for Honk! will be held June 28 at 7:30 p.m. and June 29 at 6:30 p.m. Performances for Scenes from Disney will be June 29 at 7:30 p.m., June 30 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and July 1 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the door and $5 for seniors and students.

Tickets are $20 for “Romeo and Juliet,” $40 for *Game Show*, and $25 for “Once Upon a Mattress.” Season tickets can be purchased for the three main stage shows for $80. For more information, call the box office at 580-745-2696 or going online to the www.oklahomashakes.com.
