Services for Opal V. Ribera, 86, of Durant, who passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, in Durant, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Durant. Bishop Greg Hatch will officiate.

Opal was born in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, Feb. 24, 1922, to Henry and Bessie (Yancey) Walker. She attended Bennington Schools and graduated from Southeastern with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a homemaker while her children were still young and then she taught school in Boswell for five years. Opal married Oscar Ribera, Sept. 2, 1939, in Hugo. She loved sewing, yard work gardening and collecting dolls and salt and pepper shakers. Opal will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bessie Walker; husband Oscar Ribera; son Henry Ralph Ribera; one brother; and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Pat Hull and husband Glynn of Durant; son Prentis Ribera of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Leon Walker of Sacramento, Calif.; grandchildren Brent Hull, Greg Hull, Marty Ribera and Jeff Ribera; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Interment will be in Boswell Cemetery with Matt Lieu, Matt Akin, Justin Elsworth, Cache Elsworth, Brady Wilcox and Sean Wyatt serving as pallbearers.
