DURANT — A man found passed out in the road was holding stolen credit cards and money when authorities found him, according to the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Lee Navarrette, 31, was charged Monday with knowingly concealing stolen property. He was arrested Sunday by Deputy Kevin Holt who responded to a call about a man passed out on the side of South McLean Road.
When Holt arrived, he found a man later identified as Navarrette, according to the report, and Navarette’s toenails and some of his fingernails were painted pink.
Holt questioned Navarrette, who said, “I guess I got hot and just laid down,” the report stated.
Navarrette was holding a stack of cards and money, according to the report, and when Holt took them, he discovered a driver’s license that belonged to someone else.
Durant Police told Holt they were looking for an automobile burglary suspect who “looked weird and had on a wig.”
Navarrette had been laying on a bag that contained a black wig, the report stated, and he admitted to using drugs the night before. After being checked by Bryan County EMS, Navarrette was brought to the Durant Police Department for questioning.
The victim came to the police station and said the cards were hers and she also identified Navarrette as the person she saw who looked weird, according to the sheriff’s office.
Navarrette was booked into jail. According to court records, he has prior convictions for check forgery, knowingly concealing stolen property, unauthorized use of a credit card and second-degree burglary.
In other crimes, Deputy John R. Hoffpauir II investigated an automobile burglary Sunday in the 300 block of Denison Street in Cartwright.
David Morgan showed the deputy that the back glass was cracked and the driver-side window had been smashed. A speaker box and compact disc player were stolen. The victim said he heard his dogs barking at approximately 2:30 that morning but did not get up to see why they were barking.
