DURANT — Charges were filed Monday against a man police said led officers on a pursuit on Saturday.

Victor Perez, 20, Durant, was charged with felony DUI and attempting to elude police.

Police pursued Perez at 6:36 p.m after Durant Police Patrolman Jason Colvard tried to make a traffic stop on South 12th Avenue, according to the report.

The report stated that Perez drove his Monte Carlo up to 100 miles per hour and forced other motorists off the road on South Ninth Avenue.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Kevin Holt placed spikes and, although the vehicle ran over them, it continued southbound. The driver attempted to enter Highway 69-75 at the South Ninth Avenue off ramp but was blocked by traffic exiting the ramp.

He bailed out on foot, according to police, and fell down after running into an area containing briars and shrubbery. The report stated that Perez said, “I’m through running. I just want to get to my family.”

Perez was booked into jail. This was his second recent arrest. Last week, he was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute after officers searched a Shadybrook Apartment.

Officers also arrested Perez’s twin brother after the Saturday chase. According to police, Hector Perez walked up to check on his brother. Patrolman Michael Shufeldt knew that Hector had outstanding warrants, so he was arrested and taken to jail.
