A ring police say was stolen from a nursing home resident was recovered at a local pawn shop.

According to an affidavit by Durant Police Sgt. Rocky McDaniel, a wedding band was removed from Elsie Cobb’s ring finger while she was asleep.

Cobb, who is now 101 years old, had been wearing the ring since she was married at the age of 33.

A suspect who has since been terminated from the nursing home was questioned and although she denied taking the ring, she said it would be worth checking the pawn shops for the ring and that a friend of hers had stolen from patients in the past, the affidavit states.

The ring has since been recovered at a local pawn shop and a report on the investigation has been forwarded to the Bryan County District Attorney’s Office for review. Police have two suspects.
