Rachel Inez Nichols McMillin was born on April 24, 1929 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Walker and V. Estes Nichols and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 15, 2012 at her home with her family by her side at the age of 83.
After graduating from High School, Rachel married Archie Lestal McMillin on July 6, 1949 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they spent 53 plus years together until Archie’s death on October 23, 2002. Rachel was the chief material buyer for TG&Y and in her retirement years she volunteered at Victory Life as a care giver. She was a dedicated and faithful member of the Methodist Church in Colbert and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, collecting owls, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Walter Fred Nichols, Delbert Lee Nichols, Cleo Nichols, Adrian Nichols and Allen D. Nichols; sister Ruth Irene Moore and grandson Freddie Raye Baugh.
Rachel is survived by her children Hilda Corrine “Connie” Baugh of Calera and Leatha Irene Bell of Calera; sisters Erma Jean Shawall of Bakersfield, CA and Elaine Vee Handy and husband Al of Mariposa, CA; grandchildren Todd R. Baugh and wife Saundra, Carmen Yvonne Young and husband Joe, Terry Lynn Bell and wife Patty, Jeffery R. Baugh and wife Leslie and Tina Elaine Highfield and husband Michael; great grandchildren Preston Roberson, Sarah Baugh, Cade Bell, Terah Davis, Jeffery Baugh Jr., Dillon Hill, Brenden Baugh, Casey Hill, Raleigh Baugh, Christopher Baugh and Rachel Baugh; numerous great great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Memorial services to celebrate Rachel’s life were held at 7:30 PM Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Methodist Church in Colbert, Oklahoma. Rev. Randa Norman officiated. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
