Five local baseball teams are still in the hunt for playoff glory after last week’s district finals.
In Class A, No. 5 Colbert (22-5) will take on No. 10 Roff at 4 p.m. Friday in Sterling, northeast of Lawton. Back in August, the Leopards defeated Roff 5-3 in tournament play.
The winner of Friday’s 4 p.m. game will turn around and play the winner of the Sterling/Hydro-Eakly game later that evening. Sterling is listed as the No. 4 team in Class A with a record of 26-5. The loser between Colbert and Roff will play at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Meanwhile, Silo (No. 8 at 21-6) will take on its old rival Soper (No. 9 at 21-11) at 4 p.m. Friday in Byng (north of Ada). The winner will play at 6 p.m. between the winner of No. 3 Byng and Oktaha.
No. 7 Tushka (22-6) will have No. 12 Wister at 4 p.m. on Friday in Rattan. One of these has the task of facing the 25-3 host Rams (No. 2 among Class A teams behind Dale).
Two local teams are in the Class B regional playoffs Friday in Tupelo. No. 5 Coleman (22-4) will have the host Tigers at 2 p.m., while Caney will take on second-ranked Asher. Winners face off at 6 p.m. Friday, while the losers bracket resumes play at 2 p.m. Saturday.
