RATTAN - Rock Creek softball fell 3-2 against an upstart Fort Towson fast-pitch team in Class A regional playoff action on Thursday.

Lindsey Wallace held the Lady Mustangs to three hits, while Rock Creek’s Brianna Iams allowed seven but pitched out of several jams.

Trailing 2-0 in the sixth, Rock Creek tied the game on a double from Adree Young, a bunt single for Aree Young and Michelle Wheeler’s RBI groundball to bring them home. The only other hit for Rock Creek was from Katelyn Blackburn.

Fort Towson scored in the seventh to get the playoff win, and now the Lady Mustangs must defeat all three regional opponents to advance.

“If we keep playing like we are and start hitting the ball better, we could be playing in the regional finals,” said Rock Creek Coach Tony Young.

The Lady Mustangs will face Clayton at 10 a.m. Friday in Rattan. A win for Rock Creek will set up a noon re-match with Fort Towson, and a win there will have the Lady Mustangs facing Class A’s second-ranked team, the host Lady Rams of Rattan.

There is a 40 percent chance of rain and storms for Rattan on Friday.
