DURANT — The Durant Rotary Club is having its 26th annual outdoor sports, gun and knife show at the Bryan County Fairgrounds this weekend.
The show aims to raise funds for community projects, plus give outdoor sports enthusiasts and collectors the opportunity to buy, sell and trade.
Show hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday. The show will have a variety of guns, knives, leatherwork, holsters, ammunition, hunting gear, militaria and assorted outdoor equipment to buy, sell or trade. Entry to the show is $5 for adults. There is no admission charge for children under 10. Entrants can also sign up to win a rifle that will be given away during a drawing Sunday afternoon.
They will have local vendors as well as vendors from Texas, Oklahoma City, Wetumka, Tulsa and all over Oklahoma.
There will be a full concession stand with sandwiches, nachos, other snacks and drinks.
The gun and knife show has been a sharp way for the club to target funds used for many high-caliber community projects in the area.
It is the club’s largest fundraiser. Among the club’s civic projects is providing every third-grade student in Durant, Bryan County and Boswell with a dictionary. Rotarians also sponsor endowed scholarships at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
The pavilion at Highland Cemetery was a project undertaken by the club several years ago.
Rotarians also support Families Feeding Families, Special Olympics and donated funds last year for the purchase of new tables at the Bryan County Community Building.
