Rudolph “Red” Roper of Bokchito went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2012 in Durant, OK. Red was born March 30, 1924 in Texas to E.B. and Lona Roper. Red served his country in the United States Navy serving two tours one during WWII and one during Korea. He married Clara Lee Grant on May 11, 1946 in Durant, OK and they have been longtime residents of the area. He was a member of the Bokchito Church of Christ, he liked hunting and fishing. Red was self-employed at the family paint and body shop.
He is preceded in death by his parents E.B and Lona Roper; step mother Oleta Roper and one brother Joe Roper.
Red is survived by his loving wife Clara Lee Roper of the home, one daughter Patricia Kaye Rickman of Bokchito, two sons Steve Roper and wife Patty of Bokchito and Mark Roper and wife Rene of Stafford, Virginia, nine grandchildren Chris, Scott, Brian, Eddie, Cecilia, Angelica, Leo, Sam, Stephanie and Scott and four sweet great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Bokchito Church of Christ with Graham McKay and John Carrell officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with Steve Purvis, Dick Thomas, Bennie Grove, James Flowers, Jerry Lawson and Walter Brearley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Mashburn and Gentril Norris. Family hour will be held from 6-8PM, Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Brown’s Funeral Service Durant.
