MAGNOLIA, Ark. — After over a month of practices, the Southeastern men’s basketball team will hit the court for a game that counts when it faces Southern Arkansas Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Magnolia, Ark.

The Savage Storm are coming off a pair of narrow defeats in exhibitions at the hands of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma Baptist, both solid competitors at the NAIA level.

Southeastern will have some scorers to turn to entering the regular season as three players scored in double-figures in both contests, led by Darrell Hicks, who averaged 22 points over both games, while Mychal Horn added 15 ppg and Chibuzo Elonu chipped in 12.5 ppg.

Additionally, William Slones, Jordan Lee and Chris Roussell each scored in double-figures against OBU.

Slones was busy on the boards, pulling down 9.5 rebounds per game, including 10 against the Bison. He also chipped in six blocks over both contests.

Horn had little trouble triggering the offense, dishing out eight assists in both games, while keeping a 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Muleriders are coming off a 12-14 season, but return four starters from that squad.

They are led by Justin Stuart, a 6-4 forward, who averaged 13.1 ppg last season and 5.0 rebounds.

In all, they return nine letterwinners from a season ago, while adding just two newcomers, both sophomore transfers.
