Silo Rebels hand Class B No. 1 ranked Tupelo first loss of season

SILO - The Silo Rebels knocked off a previously unbeated Tupelo squad, 14-6, in the first game of a Friday doubleheader. The Rebels dropped the second contest, 8-4.

The first inning ended in a run-rule, with Cody Stephens picking up the win in relief of Logan Oller. The duo scattered seven hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Stephens helped his cause batting 2-for-4 with a home run, double and five RBIs. Trevor Bowen went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Brandon Wells was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. B.W. Savage was 2-for-4, and Oller was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI.

Kenton Stanley and Dylan Clymore also added hits.

Cameron Mann was handed the loss in relief of Brandon McCurry. They gave up 11 hits, with five walks and six strikeouts.

Randy McCurry led the offense, batting 2-for-3 with two home runs, and Mann was 1-for-2 with a home run.

In the nightcap, Oller took the loss in relief of Wells. The gave up eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Randy McCurry recorded the win, scattering three hits with four walks and 12 strikeouts. He also went 2-for-4 with two home runs to lead Tupelo's offense.

Stephens led Silo batting 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Shawn Hendricks was 1-for-1.

Silo will host Latta, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
