SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Urald King turned in a double-double and Southeastern fought to a halftime tie before seeing the second half slip away in a 71-43 loss to Texas-San Antonio on Thursday night in San Antonio, Texas.

The loss was SE’s second to a Division I opponent in the preseason and the Savage Storm will wrap up the exhibition swing on Saturday, Nov. 3, when it faces Texas-El Paso in El Paso, Texas, at 8:05 pm central time.

Southeastern fought tooth and nail with the Roadrunners in the first half to knot the score at 28-28, but UTSA would use a couple big runs to pull away in the second half to the 71-43 win.

“I thought we really battled in the first half,” said head coach Kelly Green. “The pressure got to us a little.”

“The guys did a good job on defense,” Kelly continued, “And I thought we competed a little better than we did last week.”

A big spark in that improved performance was Urald King who turned in a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. His point total paced the SE squad, while his rebound mark led all players on the contest.

“He really played well,” said Green of King’s performance. “He ran the floor hard and I thought he was the best inside player in the gym tonight.”

King was 8-of-13 from the floor and added a pair of blocked shots and a pair of steals in the outing.

His 13 rebounds led the Storm to a 46-to-37 advantage on the glass over UTSA on the night.

Andris Misters turned in eight points, while Chris Roussell and Mateus Oliveiras each added six.

Travis Timmons triggered the offense without putting any points on the board, dishing out six assists, while Roussell added four.

It was turnovers, however, that hurt the Storm on the night, committing 32 compared to 11 by UTSA. That led to a 29-11 advantage for the Roadrunners in points off turnovers, including a 17-5 mark in the second half.

Michael Hale III led all players on the night in scoring with 22 points to lead four UTSA players in double figures.

Jeromie Hill led the Roadrunners in rebounds with eight, while Hale III dished out a team-best five assists.

An Oliveira dunk put SE on the board first and a pair of King buckets later the Storm held a 6-0 advantage.

UTSA would answer and eventually push ahead to a 26-16 lead with 4:38 to play in the first half.

SE, however, would score 12 of the final 14 points in the final 3:44 and would tie the game at 28-28 on an Andris Misters jumper with four second on the clock.

The Roadrunners would come out with an 11-0 run to start the second half and eventually pull away with a 43-15 difference in the half to fashion the 71-43 final score.
