William J. “Jack” Schmitz Sr. was born November 11, 1939 in Old Allison, Oklahoma to Charlie Doyle and Leona Beard Schmitz and passed from this life on September 12, 2012 in Denison, Texas at the age of 72.
Jack married Peggy Ann Nunnally on July 3, 1962 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Jack worked as an operator for over forty years and was a member of the operator’s union for thirteen years. He was a member of the Mead Baptist Church and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, working his cows and he never backed down from work.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Leona Schmitz; beloved wife Peggy Ann Schmitz; son Charles Sidney Prather and brothers Delbert and Harvey Schmitz.
Jack is survived by his children Mary Louise Prather, William J. Schmitz Jr. and Laura Ann Hendricks and husband Junior all of Mead, OK; grandchildren Jason Wayne Prather, Paden Zachary Lewis, William J. Schmitz III, Rebecca Schmitz, Leslie Webb, John Webb, Megan Hendricks, Angela, Carmen and Sam; 8 great grandchildren and brother Burl Schmitz and wife Carolyn of Sherman, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Kerry Groce will officiate. Interment will follow in Mead Cemetery with Paul Burbage, Ricky Holt, Steve Emory, Robert Seinich, Tony Sulsar and Mike “Slick” Watson serving as pallbearers.
