A Durant teen is in stable condition after a crash Tuesday evening at the Church and Silo road intersection.
Khristen L. Anderson, 15, was airlifted by LifeStar helicopter to Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas, with head, trunk, arm and leg injuries, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Anderson was a passenger in a Buick Century driven by Miranda Dawn Lorance, 16, Durant. According to the patrol, Lorance was driving westbound when she failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a southbound pickup driven by Jackie Dean Cirkles, 25, Colbert.
Anderson was pinned in the vehicle before being freed by the West Bryan County Volunteer Fire Department.
Lorance refused treatment at the scene, according to the patrol, and Cirkles was not injured. A passenger in the pickup, Marty G. Peebles, 31, Kenefic, also was not injured.
Trooper Scott King investigated the crash. The Durant Police Department, Silo Volunteer Fire Department and Bryan County EMS also assisted at the scene.
In other accidents, a juvenile bicycle rider was treated and released for minor injuries after he was struck Tuesday afternoon at Martin Circle and Flamingo Road by a Toyota. Gerald Williams, the driver, told police that the boy rode out in front of him and he was unable to stop before hitting him. The boy said he did not see the car until it was too late and the brakes on his bike did not work properly. He was taken to the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma.
