CARTWRIGHT — A 43-year-old woman was arrested on drugs and weapons charges after a Sunday morning incident in which she is accused of pointing a firearm at someone.
Vanessa Michelle Weger is accused of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (meth), marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She is also accused of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and feloniously pointing a firearm.
According to an affidavit from Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Colbert Street in Cartwright around 7:30 a.m. Sunday after one woman pointed a gun at another. The victim told deputies that Weger knocked on her door at 7:20 a.m., and after a few words the victim told Weger to leave her property.
The affidavit states that as Weger backed out of the driveway, she displayed the handgun.
A deputy made a traffic stop on a truck which turned out to be driven by the suspect. After a search, a Ruger handgun and the drug materials were found.
Weger and her passenger, Crystal Bridges, were arrested at the scene at Fourth Street and Sand Creek Road.
Weger is a former council member for the Colbert Town Council, but information on when and how long she served was not immediately available Tuesday.
