Eddy Brown does many things for the community, according to Frankie Chalk of Brown’s Funeral Services. At the moment, it is the community of Newtown, Conn. that Brown is caring for.

At all Brown’s Funeral Services locations, there are currently memorial books for the public to sign. Brown set up these books so that our community may show our support for the loss of another community.

On Dec. 14, the town of Newtown Conn. was struck by tragedy when a gunman opened fire at the local school of Sandy Hook. The community lost the lives of 20 children and six adults in the shooting.

Chalk said that Brown wanted to make the community know that it could be anybody and he wanted to help the families of Newton.

“He has a big heart,” said Chalk. Along with a memorial book for each person lost, each family will receive a blanket with their child or family member’s photo on it.

Chalk said that Brown plans to deliver the memorial gifts personally.

The memorial books can be found at all Brown’s locations. They are available to sign until Friday Jan. 11. Chalk said the goal for Durant is to have at least 5,000 signatures in each book.
