Multiple train cars derailed at about 5 a.m. Saturday morning at the East Main and Malone street railroad tracks. According to the Durant Fire Department, the cars were transporting sand and there were no hazardous materials in them. Approximately 30 cars derailed and the railroad company was bringing in heavy equipment Saturday to clear the toppled cars. No injuries were reported from the accident, and the cause was not disclosed at press time Saturday.
