Thursday evening the Three Valley Museum hosted “Night at the Museum” for Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s alumni and staff.

The event was a kick off for SE alumni to get together and see each other again before homecoming, said museum curator Nancy Ferris.

Food, wine and punch were set out for alumni and staff to enjoy while they mingled with each other. The museum was decorated in gold and blue for the homecoming event.

Art from the Texoma Art Association artists was on display within the museum’s regular exhibits. Exhibits with featured art in them were marked with a yellow ribbon.

Each of the featured works was available to purchase.

Featured artists included Karen Braudrick, Phyllis Elrod, Celia Gordon, Marcelene Jackson, Michael Muller, Jim Pugh, Alvina and Mike Ralls, Mary Rixen, Kathy Sturch, Janie Umsted and Liz Walters.

The night’s entertainment was an orchestral Regina Music Box that is on display in the museum. The music box is owned by Vann Dixon.

Dixon said the music box is a family heirloom with rumored ties to Jesse James. He said he believes the music box was made in the 1800s but is unsure of its actual history.

The music box uses notched wheels to produce music. Dickson has about 30 wheels containing different songs for the music box.

This is the second year the museum has held the event.

“It’s to honor the alumni and visit with them,” said Ferris.

She said the museum wanted to show the appreciation to the alumni for all of the support within the community.
