Last year’s summer boasted some of the hottest temperatures on record. With the record breaking temperatures Oklahoma has already experienced this spring, the outlook for summer 2012 doesn’t look much different.
The Medical Center Pharmacy in Durant has teamed up with Bryan County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to collect fans for seniors for the upcoming summer.
Larry Dalton, of Medical Center Pharmacy, said, “Our office decided to get together to help others this summer. A lot of people complained last year that is was hot. It’s going to be a hot summer again this year and the heat is miserable for elderly people.”
The fan drive will last until August 15 and box fans and oscillating fans are being accepted. For every fan brought in, an entry will be placed into a drawing for two tickets to see Alan Jackson in concert at the Choctaw Event Center on Saturday September 15, 2012. The drawing will take place on August 16.
“A lucky couple will get to go to the concert and at the same time, we’re helping senior citizens,” said Dalton.
Anyone who would like to donate a fan can take it to Medical Center Pharmacy 1026 Radio Road in Durant. For more information about the drawing, contact Pamela or Adriann at (580) 924-2626. Anyone needing a fan, contact Sheila Risner at RSVP (580) 924-3659.
