The South Ninth Avenue Mineral Bayou bridge in Durant was closed Wednesday to begin construction on a new bridge. Durant/Bryan County Emergency Management expects construction of the new bridge to take approximately 130 days. The road is closed to through traffic and motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes and to allow extra time to reach their destinations. Traffic going north on US-69B (South Ninth Avenue) will be diverted at Choctaw Road, except for local residents. Traffic going south on US-69B will be diverted at Arkansas Street, except for local residents.
