Woodmen of the World Lodge 558 President Jeff Tharsher presents bottled water to Bryan County firefighters James Owens (Bennington), Chuck Prater (Yuba) and Chief Roger Joines (Durant). The water and sports drinks were donated by the Woodmen of the World as part of the Homeland for Heroes program. These items were presented Friday at an appreciation dinner held at the Durant lodge. "It's getting that time of year for fire season," Thrasher said. "We've been wanting to have a water drive, so they are picking up water and Gatorade while they are here. I have seen what these firemen need, and that's why we do it. We like to help the community and give back." The items and the appreciation dinner were given to firefighters from throughout Bryan County.
