Calera Schools broke ground on the new Multipurpose Faculty that was approved in a recent bond election for the school.

The building will contain a new gymnasium and four classrooms. Superintendent Aaron Newcomb said that they hope to be able to have Calera’s 2014 graduation in the building.

“We’re all excited. We can’t wait,” said Newcomb.

Work on the building began directly following the ground breaking ceremony Tuesday morning.

Among those present for the ceremony were school board members, school administration, city representatives, County Commissioner Monty Montgomery, fire department representatives, police representatives and sponsors of the bond.
