Jeff Barker, John Winters, Jay Perry, Rick Leymon and Mike Bowling finished final inspection on the new J-N Creek Bridge on Jim Mac Rd in Blue at 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

Residents of Blue can now cross J-N Creek without issue. The new J-N Creek Bridge was official declared open on Jim Mac Road Thursday morning.

Final inspection for the bridge was at 10 a.m. and Bryan County Commissioner Jay Perry declared the bridge open after the inspection was complete.

For some time now, the crossing had been comprised of two 8-foot tin horns and dirt to level the crossing. This was a temporary fix, said Perry.

Perry and local CED members said that with the temporary structure, the road and crossing both flooded easily with heavy rain.

The area around the crossing was also cleared in the project.

“It was solid timber on both sides,” said Perry.

Perry said he did not know exactly how long the temporary structure had been in place. The structure had been put in place after the original bridge caved in before he had become district three commissioner.

The bridge took approximately 90 days to complete after the project was approved. The project was contracted to Hub Construction, a Boswell based company.

The contract price was set at $580,850 however, Perry said he believes the actual price was a bit less.
