Third grade students at Durant’s Northwest Heights Elementary School made kites last week to kick off kite month.

Kite month is from March 30 to May 3. In honor of this, children at Northwest Heights were taught how to make kites and the history of kites.

The students gathered beside the playground just before 11 a.m. Thursday March 28 to fly the kites they had made.

Kites were made with the help of PE and Health instructor Lisa Moore. She said that the students began making kites on Monday March 25 and they worked on them for the next two days.
